About the Reedmaker

Kaitlyn Dunn is currently living in Columbus, Ohio after receiving her artist diploma and master's degree in oboe performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Kaitlyn’s primary oboe teachers include John Dee, Dr. Ashley Barret with additional studies with  Dr. Keith Sorrels and Titus Underwood. She has recently played with the New Albany Symphony and Newark Granville Symphony Orchestra.  Prior experience includes the Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia da Camera, Illinois Bach Society and the Danville Symphony.

When I’m not busy trying to perfect my reeds, you can find me diving into a book or dodging the playful chaos created by my two dogs and two mischievous cats. Speaking of cats,  Maya and Luna, are the real masterminds behind the Oboe Kat name! They love to supervise my reed-making sessions, ensuring I don’t take myself too seriously—because who knew crafting reeds could be such a "paws-itively" entertaining adventure?

Oboe Kat reeds are fully customizable to meet your unique playing needs! Feel free to leave a comment or email us with any specific reed preferences or considerations you may have. We're here help you find the perfect fit for your musical journey!

Reviews

"Kaitlyn Dunn makes great reeds because she plays the oboe so beautifully. Her expert-level craftsmanship, fast service, and high standards are hard to beat."
Dr. Keith Sorrels Professor of Oboe at MTSU

"The tone is clear and not overly bright, the pitch is even top to bottom, and articulating precisely how I want to is incredibly easy. These reeds are my go-to for everything from Tchaikovsky to Telemann, and can handle playing second parts that hang out below the staff and soaring solo lines that need to carry over the full orchestra equally well."
Jesi Hempstead Freelance Oboist

"Oboe d'amore reeds felt excellent! The response was top notch, and the sound and flexibility are great for solo or large ensemble playing."
